Film and Literary Recommendations (2022/2023): Art and Activism

Andrea Llano Busta (University of Oviedo) has compiled the recommendations of project members into a corpus of visual and written texts on activist artists. Such a diverse list of films, books, TV series and music videos may prove useful to both students and teachers in secondary and tertiary education who may likewise benefit from the corpora created in previous years on constructing (2020) and dispelling fear (2021), also available in this blog. The corpus was created on a set of questions and guidelines proposed by Jorge Diego Sánchez (University of Salamanca, Spain)

Film and Literary Recommendations (2022–2023): Critical topics on Racism and Misogyny

In a series of videos, students in the module “Race, Gender, Sexuality, Cinema and Theatre in English-Speaking Cultures” at the University of Salamanca adopt a critical approach to current issues such as racism and misogyny by analyzing films, TV series, news articles and social media posts, among other sources. Therapeutic Young Adult Sports Fiction

Our member Rocío Riestra Camacho (University of Oviedo, Spain) shares educative material and insight. Her talk "Therapeutic Young Adult Sports Fiction" offers clues to understand the use of Literature in English (more precisely, Young Adult Fiction) in a class, explains the practical benefits for the reader (education on mental health) and guides us in how to carry out practices of research in such a topic. This video can be used as theoretical background for lecturers at college, lecturers at High School, Counsellors, Sports Coaching and to create Awareness on Food Disorders. It also implements the role of individuals to make a change in their individual and community lives.
